Flagstaff Hill & Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend

This page is dedicated to the Flagstaff Hill “Fire Night” and the International Lighthouse and Lightship weekend. These two amazing events occurred together which created a fantastic atmosphere where members of the group where able to both operate in such an amazing event but also were able to showcase their skills on the radio to members of the public. This gave a unique option for the public to see what amateur radio is really about up close and personal in such a beautiful setting.

The International Lighthouse and Lightship weekend is a 48hour event which amateur radio operators around the globe, make contact with other users based in lighthouses. This not only is an amazing event for making contacts and showing off your skills on the radio but it also helps to promote the Heritage of the Lighthouses and their importance. Many amateur radio operators use this event to dust off the webs that the lighthouses may have and help bring back an extra spark to the building.

The “Fire Night” at Flagstaff Hill was an amazing event which included some fantastic displays of the cannon, crackling fires and amazing food, sounds and company. We as a group would like to thank Flagstaff Hill for inviting us to this amazing event and allowing us the use of the Lighthouse to also participate in the International Lighthouse and Lightship weekend. It was a fantastic experience for all and highlighted what an amazing community we have here in Warrnambool. We hope to come back next year and enjoy this amazing experience again.
